We all thank you for shopping at Says Who & Seams To Fit
From Miklane: Trends…not that we expect you to wear them, but it’s nice to know what’s coming, going or staying the same. Not all of us like wearing ten pockets on a shirt, frayed seams or plaids with flowers. Some of us like our colors to match. Some of us are retired and never want to put on structure again. I, for one, like holes in my clothes. I once bought a tee shirt that said FLOWER across the front and life, love and trees elsewhere on the shirt. It was perfectly boxy, the fabric felt great and the shirt had holes in it. Some people spend money on knitting or dining out, I spent money on clothes. This tee shirt cost me $120 dollars, and looked like I bought it at a thrift store. I figure I’ve worn this shirt soooooooo much, and still wear it, that the average cost per time wearing it is about 3 cents. Not only that, I bought another! Spending like that is over. Thrift store and consignment shop buying is right up my alley. I love owning Seams To Fit and Says Who, and being able to offer you prices I want to pay. I love perusing the racks even if most things are too big for me. Why just today I bought a great LL Bean cropped, red, tee shirt…was it yours? Thank you. But back to trends, what’s in and out and always around…Comfort and easy care of clothes is essential.
Trends…I’m happy to report touches of hippie are in. I was a hippie in the 60s and am proud to still love tie dye and peace symbols. And then there’s the inspired Michelle Obama cardigan. Designers are interpreting it with and without funk. The relaxed, some say oversized, look is back. Who can argue with relaxed. Let’s not confuse oversized with too big. Yes we will continue to offer fitted shapes from Tianello and fitted from the wonderful clothes you bring in.
Colors, hell if I know! If you like it, buy it. After 26 years in the business, there are no new colors. Fall is usually autumn olives, blues, browns and rusts, moving toward winter jewel tones, then on to softer, sun washed spring pastels. Someone once advised us to take the colors of fall and winter and just lighten them up. Summer gets lighter until we head back to the warm and cozy shades of fall. Some years the designers highlight grey or purple or they call brown the new black. Personally I wear the colors I like all year, it’s the fabrics I change. Neutrals always seem to be in, whether you call it winter white or soft summer cream, ‘… a rose is rose by any other name.’
An open mind, now that’s a good thing to take shopping with you. I’m practicing an open mind when it comes to reading. I come to reading late in life and I’m grateful to put my open mind to use when it comes to staying with a book. An open mind when it comes to shopping is easy for me, I love shopping and trying on clothes. I love dressing you when you come in to shop.
From Susan: I have to think about what I want to say…but, then again, why should I start now! Books you say? I’m never without one and only sorry I can’t read and swim at the same time. I’m is always delighted by the quality of consignment items you bring to the store and often leave with a mouth watering response. And I love the cute new Tianello shirt now in store and wonder if you’ve seen it. Other then that, I wants summery sun as much as possible so I can swim swim swim. I’m surprised how comfortable I feel wearing a bathing suit at my weight and age. I’m enjoying sun bathing that I haven’t done in 46 years. Let us know if you want bathing suits, we’re ordering them for the winter. Email us to get in on the order. We can bring the catalog to the store and you can pick what you want.
From Janelle: Come see me on Sundays. I’m in school full time but happy to see customers when you come in on Sunday. I’m working towards a new career in teaching but Says Who will always be my home. While I might be teaching young ones, I’m happy to teach you how to tie a sarong, tell you how a garment is constructed or how to get the best deals at
From Miss Linda: Hi everyone, I hope to see a lot you during my 20th year . I’m especially happy to be meeting Says Who customers. I am really comfortable having Says and Seams under one roof, as well as having only myself under my roof at home! When you come to Seams and Says, I feel you are coming into my living room. As for clothes, my advice is, don’t look at size, if it fits, wear it! Be sure to look through all the consignment sizes because I’ve learned over the years that size does not necessarily match the number on the label.
FromTonda: Thanks for being my friend for the last 27 years. I’m going to be 60 soon and I’m excited to make it this far and looking forward to more. I’m kinda liking not being in charge at Seams and Says, it gives me a chance to appreciate how much I know about fashion, even if my color sense is challenged. I’m living on my own for the first time, and it’s a little scary and a lot exciting. These days my wardrobe is
BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS:
Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese: The setting is
The Help by Kathyrn Stockett: Takes place in Jackson Mississippi in 1960. The story is told through three voices, two black American domestic workers and one white women who comes to have consciousness about racism during the civil rights movement.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo & The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson: It’s a mystery but it is so much more. It transcends the genre and all we can say is we’re thrilled there’s another one coming in the series. It is a page turner, and a good place to practice an open mind if you are not a mystery lover.
